Michael is a Tax Director with Baker Tilly Tax Thailand. Michael has fifteen years of industry and consulting experience in Taxation. He spent over ten years on numerous tax consulting assignments with the Big 4, including KPMG and PwC, in Thailand, Singapore and Australia.
Michael’s key areas of tax specialization include international taxation, including transactional structuring and transfer pricing. Michael was also engaged to perform the buy side Tax Due Diligence for infrastructure assets as well as hotels, divestment of condominium developments and food and beverage assets in the Asia Pacific Region. Michael has advised on inbound and outbound investments for Thailand. He also advised on tax structuring and implementation from Thailand into ASEAN, which includes construction and energy investments into Myanmar.
Michael has implemented an “in house” Global, Thailand and Vietnam transfer pricing documentation project as well as Transfer pricing studies for the manufacturing sector in Thailand and the banking sector in Singapore and Australia. Michael has also worked in-house for ING Bank in Australia in taxation as in-house counsel, products, projects and compliance and was responsible for synergizing the Bank’s Tax M&A processes.
Michael has broader industry experience in Financial Control in Thailand, the ASEAN region as well as in London for a FTSE 100 listed company which enables him to collaborate with clients as well as understanding his client’s overall commercial objectives. His broader industry experience enables Michael to service the full scope of compliance needs of his clients.
Michael has written tax articles in Thailand for both The Bangkok Post and The Nation.
